At Central Church of Christ we believe that God calls each and every member
into ministry. He gives each of us gifts and abilities that are meant to be used
in His Kingdom work. We think of every member being a minister. Just as there
are varieties of people and abilities there are varieties of ministry
opportunities at Central. Here is a list of our existing ministries and a brief
job description of each one.
Our Benevolence Ministry provides financial and material supplies to those in
need. We provide this help for our own members who may be in need but also reach
out into the community with assistance in food, clothing, shelter, and those who
are victims of a major calamity.
Our Family Ministry has the responsibility of the overall
Christian education and discipleship of members and visitors from birth to 105.
The Family Ministry consists of Children's, Youth,
and Adults Ministries. Together they
recruit and train leaders and teachers, provide growing opportunities, and seek
to minister to the entire family. The Family ministry in part offers a
quality Bible School, children choirs, small groups, support groups,
ministry opportunities, leadership development, special seminars, a library,
Vacation Bible School, camping, special trips, and other special programs. They select the best materials available for the
ongoing education of the church at large. It is the goal that
by ministering to the entire family that the entire family will be
"ministers" better equipped to make a difference in our community for
Christ.
The Evangelism Ministry uses every means possible to communicate the good
news of Jesus Christ to the lost. This ministry identifies prospects, trains our
members for evangelistic calling, and plans and publicizes
special evangelistic programs.
The Missions Ministry promotes missions awareness in our congregation. They
make arrangements for our missionaries to visit and report to us when they are
back in the states. They keep us informed of our missionaries' special needs,
projects or victories. They challenge us to be involved in praying for or
corresponding with our missionaries.
The Prayer Ministry encourages and leads the congregation in developing and
maintaining a vital prayer life. This ministry promotes both organized and
informal times of prayer, including prayer chains and vigils. Prayer warriors
are enlisted for specific and temporary prayer needs.
The Property Ministry has the responsibility to insure that our properties
reflect the dedication we have toward God. The Property Ministry is divided into
three categories: Church Building, Parsonages, Grounds. The deacon in charge of
the church building ensures our building is maintained and ready for use for our
services and special events. The deacon in charge of the parsonages ensures they
are properly maintained and improved as needed. The deacon in charge of the
grounds concentrates on mowing, snow removal, landscaping and those things that
present our buildings well to the community and keep our grounds safe. The
property ministry recruits volunteers to assist in special projects and periodic
upkeep.
The Stewardship Ministry manages the stewardship and financial concerns of
the church. This ministry assists in preparing the annual budget, develops
programs to instruct our members in the stewardship of time, talent and
finances. They also maintain the giving records of the church members and make
that information available to our members.
The Technical Ministry manages the technical aspect of all services. This
ministry recruits and trains people to operate the sound system as well as
ensure the first service is on the local radio station. The ministry also
oversees the tape ministry of the church and the church Web site.
The Transportation Ministry maintains church vehicles and schedules
transportation as needed. They recruit qualified drivers for the church
vehicles. They provide transportation each Sunday for those in need.
The goal of the Worship Ministry is to provide a
meaningful worship experiences in a number of different settings and
services. We use a variety of means to lead people in encountering
God, including drama, music and
multimedia. Areas of service within the Worship Ministry include
worship team (band and vocalists), adult choir, special music, drama team,
worship leading, multimedia, technical, communion preparation, baptism
assistance, ushering and administrative assistance. There is a place
for just about
everyone!
